What is "Bedlah"? In the World of Belly Dance the term bedlah refers simply to the costume that a dancer wears. Most commonly it is used to refer to the matched set of bra and belt that cabaret dancers use, but technically it encompasses all parts of the dancer's costume as well, such as the jewelry, headband, skirt, pants and veil. This is often referred to as a Complete Bedlah. Occasionally it also refers to just one piece of the costume such as the highly ornate belt that tribal dancers wear which may or may not have a matching bra. Bahira uses the term: Bedlah Hardwear to to indicate the more sturdy portions of the dancers costume, the bra, belt and jewelry and the term: Bedlah Softwear include the flowing fabric portions of the costume, the skirt, pants, vest, choli and/or veil. Bahira creates one-of-a-kind, custom fitted Bedlah Hardware to coordinate with the Software selected by the dancer.

Bahira works with each client to determine her (or his) desires and to create a one-of-a-kind costume to give the dancer a splendid look that is uniquely, comfortably, their own. The resulting confidence a dancer feels while wearing Bahira's creations, allows them to more fully experience and enjoy the creative process of the dance.
Bahira is located in the South Bay area of Northern California (San Jose/Santa Clara) and prefers to work with clients locally so that the proper attention can be given to make the fit work. However, many of Bahira's ready-made pieces have been designed specifically to fit female curves and require no further custom adjustments.
